Today’s Tuesday. Do I really need to explain more? For those of you that haven’t heard any of the show today, Artie’s out “sick” again. Howard wants to think he REALLY IS sick. I hope for everyone’s sake, especially Artie, that he’s right.
Based on his message to the station this morning, I must conclude that his behavior is similar to someone withdrawing from Heroin. I’m anxious to see what everyone else thinks about his absence today.

I worked security at the Chicago show while he was on herion two summers ago. I have to say, he looked like complete shit then and was acting extremely strange. He was walking around pretending to swing a baseball bat and would have a weird look while he was talking to you. He honestly didn’t care about the show since he did the same material, almost to the T, that he did two years ago. He heard the crowd getting pissed and even acknowledged it in the back. It was a sad state that I saw him in.
That being said, he definitely looks like something is up. His skin is turning to shit and almost has a yellowish tint to it. He is fat but you do get serious munchies while you are on opiates. I don’t think he is on the horse but he may be popping vikes. If you listen to him…he never really talks bad about heroin. He usually says that he had a love affair with Mr. Brownstone but I have heard him say he will never do coke again. I have never heard him say he will never down “h” again. Just sayin…..he loves his opiates.

ya he is sick but the correct term is “dope-sick”. i’m becoming more and more suspicious by the day i tell ya. also note a true drug addict will lie straight to your face even when confronted on their using… even if a needle falls out of his pocket in front of someone the true drug addict will lie and say its someone elses.

Besides being completely clueless about addiction (as most non-addicts are), Howard Stern is also a Libertarian who has never in my memory told anyone what they should do in their personal lives. Fox meanwhile may have some kind of clause regarding drug use.

Something is not right with Artie, and it is VERY serious. Odds are he is NOT really sick today and he is having withdrawals from some kind of drug. An opiate withdrawal is horrible and if he is in withdrawal there is no way he could come to work.
Artie is on a self-destruct mode and needs help immediately before something really serious happens.
Subutex would enable him to come to work and function normally but it will not work if he is taking another opiate

Last summer when Artie called in sick he said…I had a little relapse…this morning when they played his call he used the exact same verbage…Artie is all about his EGO…poor Artie…give me a break…get your ass in treatment and start to grow up….its time…Sometimes I think Artie wants to die…go out with a big bang…overweight comedian dies of a heroin overdose….then we would all miss him and feel bad for him….

Howard and crew are being nice to say they think he is genuinely sick. They don’t want to mess up his Fox deal, but I would bet they are already discussing Artie replacements. I’d like to see Lisa Lampagnelli give it a try, or the guy who’s girlfriend just died (can’t remember his name).

As a former H user myself I can say for sure that when a person uses and stops, the chances of relapsing are extremely high. If Artie is back on the H it wouldn’t be a huge surprise. Also people who use are the best liars, if he’s using again lieing about it would only be the norm. I do wish the best for him and hope all this talk doesn’t make it worse for him.

As a person who has struggled with various addictoions throughout his life, the one thing that rings true is that an addict becomes the greatest liar the world has ever known. He can lie to his family, friends, all the while wishing in his head that someone would call him on it. Thats the rub. You have to be proactive. You have to be smart. You have to do something about it. He is under the control of something that has skewed a normal persons brain fucntions. I love Artie like a brother even though I don’t know him. Not because he’s famous. Not because he’s funny. Not because of Howard. But because as I listen in my headphones every morning he leads very similar life to so someone I know …read between the lines. Arty is a great guy. Also to those who don’t think there are fat junkies, your wrong. If You have money, food and drugs are like Benny and Joon. Good luck to everyone battleing something that has skewed a perspective to an otherwise great and loveing person.

I’m not completely convinced he is back on drugs, but what i know is how bad his diet is and how incredibly fat he is. He spends his days shoveling in the worst possible shit a person can eat. That kind of diet and a complete lack of exercise leads to depression, sickness, fatigue, and an overall poor health. I can’t believe he is still alive after hearing the list of foods Howard described that Artie eats every day. He even sounds fat on the air with his heavy breathing and panting. I’d hate to be a doctor giving him a colonoscopy pulling out 20 lbs. of partially digested devil dogs, pancakes and ground beef. Ugh. Artie needs to go on a diet and exercise, his fatness and eating is great for the show, but that fat fuck won’t live to see 45 at his pace. Get help.

Artie, I doubt you’ll ever read this but if you do you have to start thinking about your mom and sister. Heroin withdraw is a bad place to be and I’m sure you have more on your mind than a few fans that you’ve never met pulling for you, but think about the effect that it will have on your mother and sister if you go like Farley or Belushi. You can get out of this hole, you’ve done it before. Everyone is pulling for you to come back and no one will blame you for a relapse. Addiction is bigger than most of us and it’s not a sign of weakness to relapse. It’s just a matter of getting some help and becoming yourself again.

Perfct1 I have the same problem you do, I think Art is for sure taking vikes. You can tell how he eats, after he takes his morning pills he gets really hungary and thats why he has to eat cup cakes all day. Does subutex actually work perfct1? How many do you take a day and things like that.

i am not present so i can’t comment on his pupils, but i listen religiously and i really think artie has a health problem. i am fresh out of rehab 10/2006, i had three withdrawal seizures my drugs of choice were opiates and benzos. he talks about the physical things that happen to him so i do believe he is sick. i KNOW about the liar the addict becomes, but i can’t let myself believe he would be so open about it and then not own up to another relapse. he seems to be familiar with the AA way, i just wish he could reach out to someone right now. i need the program for my life even now. it is a much simpler way of living. i saw artie in vegas 5/2004 and he is NOT healthy. i have a picture of him and my sister, it’s startling-the difference. i love artie and wish him only the best. he really needs a sponsor.

I am also an x heroin addict , i have been clean for 2 yrs. And it to me sounds like he is definitly dope sick. He has all the signs of being sick from kicking the heroin… it also takes about 3 days to get all the shit out and feel better on your 4th day. A drug addict will lie lie lie they would rather die than admit they fucked up. I love artie and i listen religiously to the show every single day. ARTIE u r the man u have so much goin for ya! F Howard on this one. Howard’s move to Sirius was all about being the best he can be, giving the best show to us that he can give us. With Artie being such a mess, being fat, talking fat….(yes, even Artie’s voice sounds FAT!)… weezing fat, missing shows, the show is far from the best Howard can deliver. Come on Howard, don’t just sit there and let Artie eat himself to death and fat up your show. Your show is far from the best you can deliver in this surrent situation….do something about it.

His weight has ballooned so drastically,
heroin might actually be his second biggest problem.
Howard is really covering for Artie.
Howard’s main concern is keeping Artie on the show.
Howard prefers the occasional sick binge, to losing Artie to rehab for months.
Howard put forth the ‘no fat junkies’ excuse.
I’m sure that Howard has been informed that this is a fallacy,
in the case of people who are well funded.
That would make an interesting poll.

Just another example of the poor work ethic of the entire cast. I got Sirius for the Howard Stern show but after 1 year the 4 day work week, the 8 weeks of vacation and the 7 same celebrities in rotation demonstrate a lack of planning and general “phone it in” attitude by the program. Artie being out sick again just shows the lack of respect the show demonstrates to it’s fans.
Do the math, 4 day work week, 8 weeks of vacation = 7 months of shows annually. Nobody seems to work hard on the show for the fans.

I think Stern is a good dude and as such I think he would not hesitate at all if he believed Artie was on H again. I think Stern has no clue about what opiates are and how they fuck you up (he always talks about the one time he ate some perc’s and had a few drinks and couldn’t understand what he was supposed to feel and didn’t get hi) - I think Stern should confront him on air and ask him to submit to a voluntary drug test, his reaction to that will tell all that needs to be known. And fuck those people calling others on here rats or narc’s - everyone here seems to be legitimately concerned for Artie and his well being and is trying to, deepdown, do what is right. Fuck the people who sit around and watch while people they care about let their demons destroy them. It’s hard to make someone who hates themself recognize what they are doing to themself but if you care about them you do it. The sad thing is that it should be his close friends and close family - not fans who don’t even know him - who should be doing this. Hopefully we can get the ball rolling for them to take over…

It’s gotta be Oxycontin… it’s obvious that he’s been quick to make excuses for his behavior and just seems a bit disingenuous lately. Robin yesterday mentioned something about Sidney Poitier and Artey immediately interjected with an enthusiastic ‘great performer!’… a few minutes later he explained that complimenting Poitier is the best move for someone that’s being accused of being a racist. I understand that these kinds of inconsistent thoughts come out on occasion, but this comment just seemed very unnatural coming from Artey. I know a lot of people on OC’s and they are all filled with excuses and come off as insincere. Artey is most definately back on smack.

You don’t need a Narc to get them busted, when they openly discuss
things such as Bubba always having a big supply of various drugs
and his eagerness to give them to those who surround him.
The Sirius ’stars’ feel that they have escaped from government oppression
and they may have escaped censorship… but they are still under our drug laws.
I suspect that there are prosecutors who resent the bragging about drugs
and who may be compiling evidence as we speak.

I believe that the staff of the show are not doing Artie any favors by turning a blind eye to what obviously going on. Artie is out of control and I hope he does not turn up dead one of these days. I know that only Artie can truly help himself, but when they all make excuses for him and enable his behavior, that will only keep him sick.
There is a lot more to this story and I don’t think we are being told everything. I just want to see Artie get well. He his become my favorite part of the show.

The ladder wasn’t tall enough, so his father put it on top of a patio table, which Artie said his father did in such circumstances.
Artie said one of his jobs was to hold the ladder for this father.

Going to the hospital would be a good start for Artie. 90% of the people here do have intimate knowledge of addiction. That is why everyone is so sure of what they are seeing and hearing. The other 10% seem as clueless as everyone on the show. I think we all want him to be okay.

An addict is usually able to function if they have their drugs, so Artie calling in sick means he either is really sick or he is in withdrawal. There is nothing worse then an opiate withdrawal NOTHING !!!! and it would take a couple of weeks for him to be able to function if he is trying to detox without help.
What I do not understand is if he has been in withdrawal why doen’t he take the Subutex that he says hes been taking. Subutex would enable him to be able to come to work.
With that said I think Artie is really sick and it has nothing to do with drugs. Unless he is out of both Subutex and drugs.
Either case, we love ya Artie, you are my favorite on the show, so get better buddy.

That’s a good thought, and is very true. I’m sober from drugs for a little more than four years, booze for 3 and a half. After that I gave up cigarettes just over two years ago. I’m to the point now that I felt bad about drinking caffiene every day…and stopped doing that also. An addiction is an addiction, no matter how big or small. I too, feel a pain, when Artie talks of drinking and eating. Those are nothing more than “replacements”, and he is still living his addiction through those, and other vices. As long as he sits there, with alcohol and nicotine in his system, and talks fondly of “the horse”, then as far as I’m concerned, he already is using-if not physically, then certainly mentally.

If Artie is getting Subutex from some doctor, that drug is harder to come off of than vikes or oxy. If you take Subutex too long, coming off it is very painful. I know I had to do it. As much as Howard is trying to look the other way, Artie respects him and he should step in off the air and not in front of millions of people. If I were Artie I wouldn’t want to be made fun of every day for my addictions.

Last year when I was in Detox..no one gave or offered me a bottle of Subutex. Its a series of five (5) pils you take over a period of five days..each dose lower until your free of the craving physically (mentaly is a much harder process) without getting sick from withdrawal..its great..But sending you home with a bottle? They told me if I took that with opiates in me I could die.
Also.. the other day when Bigfoot was on he was saying he could get Percs..Vicos..Codeine3 Artie vanished after Bigfoot left..Howard kept on saying” Wheres Artie?” Finding a new contact is more important then your job..I’ll tell you this reality show helps me stay clean. We love you Artie..

I thing that Sal taking off probably “told Artie” it was alright for him to take off too. I personally don’t think Artie’s back on anything that he’s not already admitted to. I just feel that Artie is 1.) sick, and 2.) otherwise terribly unhealthy, and needs a break. But he does need to be justified in taking off, his work ethic is very good, Sal gave him the go-ahead.

First of all let me say I love Artie. I hardly would listen to the show before he came on. I just didn’t like Jackie, the show was to “White”, and Artie brings an Italian flavor a room full of crackers, anyways that being said, if in fact Artie is on drugs again. I would like to say, I hope his fat nasty ungrateful ass rots in hell, his behavior has been different lately. Calling Howard a dick for giving advice, lashing out at both Robin and Howard on the wrap up show, I think Howard knows that WHEN his relationship ends with Artie its not going to be nice. Hey everyone - man I tell you, I have been in Artie’s shoes. I take ‘Suboxone’ just like Artie does and I am a recovering addict. TRUST me when I tell you that it works, and it works WELL. If anyone out there needs help with recovery, this is the stuff. If Artie is still taking this stuff, then if he does any ‘H’ or any narcotic for that matter, then he would be just wasting his money because the drug kills your high. He would have to stop taking the medicine for 4 days, then he would have to ‘load’ up again to get high so it’s too much work. I am sure that he is just busy with his home purchase or maybe he is banging some broads. I will be REALLY surprised if he is back on drugs because the drug is so effective, that it kills your cravings, thoughts and everything associated with getting high. Rock on Artie, and when you get back, you better have a good explanation! Hopefully you are safe, and if you did fall off the wagon, just take your ’subbies’ again and you will be fine.

I just saw Beer League for the first time last night and have to say it was hysterical. My only problem is a lot of the jokes about him being fat and overweight are currently not that funny because he appears in the movie as if he was in peak physical condition as compared to the present. I dont think Arties on drugs though. Today Howard said Artie is not on drugs, and as someone who has listened to the show for a long time I can say that Howard is never wrong. Just ask Howard.

Firstly, I have no idea why they put him on Subutex, Methadone works far better for lifetime maintenance. I’ve been there - but managed to wean myself off the methadone. I haven’t used subutex before but aparently the craving block effect gets weaker and weaker as you take it longer.
Artie is totally an addict, but I’m gonna stay in the positive camp and hope he’s just sick. Or, maybe he’s trying to wean off and got more severe symptoms than he expected.
Artie - get your hands on some valium, sleep for a week, your eyes will be all dilated for another 3 weeks after that, but then its over. No more opiates. It’s worth it - and your fans are all rooting for you (unless you leave the stern show ;).

First off, If Artie was trying to get off heroin, he would take the suboxen that he talked about on the show. YOu do not get sick and have no problems from taking it. You would not miss work and would be fine physically and mentally.
